Her PhD thesis involved a cross-cultural analysis on gift-giving behaviour and childhood consumer socialisation. Her findings indicated that gifts exchanged in the family make a big impact on the way in which children are socialised as consumers. Besides having conducted further research in gift-giving behaviour, Constance has also done research on overseas students in Australia and is currently undertaking research on the consumer behavior topic of Voluntary Simplicity with a publication forthcoming in Psychology and Marketing. Her research into Voluntary Simplicity examines the way in which a growing number of people have decided to live a simple lifestyle in preference to one that is based on materialism.
